Majok Deng is shooting from deep at a crazy pace

Unlike in his previous three BAL seasons, when he played a more laid-back role, Majok Deng has reinvented his game — and it’s paying off.

The Al Ahly Ly forward has become a deadly catch-and-shoot player, and his opponents are paying the price.

After coming off the bench in Al Ahly Libya’s first two games, which the Libyan champions ended up losing, head coach Ahmed Soliman felt the need to reshape his starting line-up. Coincidentally or not, that’s when Deng became the most impactful player, and the Libyan champions improved to 2–2.

Deng is shooting from long range at an astonishing pace.

He leads all players who have attempted at least three or four three-pointers, shooting at 71.4%.

In his most recent game on Friday 3 April, he shot 8 for 9 from the floor, including 3 for 3 from behind the arc, to finish with 20 points and help Al Ahly Ly beat the Nairobi City Thunder 107–90.

Since the beginning of 2026, Deng has averaged 18 points per game.

During a post-game press conference, he explained how he had developed his shooting technique, saying: “I try to work on that for different reasons. Obviously, it depends on who is guarding me. If they are athletic and can jump high, I try to use my legs more and just trust the work. I do work on it a lot.”
